     n8n is more expensive and closer to the metal than Make.com . n8n offers agentic AI but I do not want to use that.

Middleware Background: 

   n8n is where the complex workflow is housed functioning as a connector to the calendar and other places.  n8n is a great middleware so that you could change the front AI piece from Vapi to Retell without having to change the connection workflow logic.

COST: 

n8n is priced for its hosting at $20/mo (1 project, 2,500 executions, 5 active workflows, 5 concurrent), $50/mo  (3 projects, 10,000 executions, 15 active workflows, 20 concurrent), custom (unlimited projects). 
  workaround is local n8n (free) with render, digital ocean, or railway ( railway.com ) so even cheaper.

  local n8n is problematic for production systems, especially with security and adds hosting problems.
